TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Eligibility*
*Please refer to “Section I.B.” of the Branch Standing Rules
2. Applications
3. Fees (revised August 2024)
Once the application is submitted, the teacher has 7 days to make any corrections or changes. After 7 days, there can be NO changes to the application. (*Revised in 02/14)
• There will be a $10 late fee on applications received AFTER the deadline (30 days prior to event). This rule will still apply to the 7 days rule, which means that teachers may send the application within 7 days after the deadline with a check including the $10 fee. The Chair will NOT accept any applications later than 7 days.
• The application fee is non-refundable, except in the case of extenuating circumstances. Also, a refund request must be made within a week after the application deadline.
4. Timing of Repertoire
It is important that the TIMING of the music should be accurate, NO ROUNDING UP, OR GUESSED TIMING, e.g., if the time is 4:26, it should be 4:26, not 4:30. The chair relies on the time that the teachers submit, and sets the program based on that information.
5. Dress Code*
The presider shall dress appropriately for the particular event.
*Read "Dress Code" under "Recital Rules."
1. Eligibility*
*Please refer to “Section I.B.” of the Branch Standing Rules
- A teacher is eligible to present his/her student in recitals or festivals (including CM) ONLY if that student has studied with that teacher for a minimum of SIX (6) months prior to that event.
- Active, Provisional, and Student Teacher Members may enroll students in State programs only within their approved discipline and only in the instrument(s) listed in the State Directory. It is the responsibility of the Branch Membership Secretary to confirm that a member has qualified through the point system in order to be listed on a second instrument.
- New Membership applications and reinstatements must be accurately completed and submitted to the State Office, postmarked on or before July 31st in order to be eligible to participate in Certificate of Merit. The open door period for all branch teacher transfer requests is now April 16th to August 31st. To receive approval, all Branch transfers must now be requested between the period of April 16th to August 31st. This allows the State Office adequate time to move the CM students in the database to the new Branch of their teacherʼs choice prior to the opening of CM registration. Any member wishing to make a Branch transfer request will be unable to do so between September 1st and April 15th because this is the active period for Certificate of Merit. Only individual members in good standing may enroll students in MTAC programs, and these students must be their own students.
- A teacher is eligible to participate in programs as a member in good standing, having maintained the attendance requirements as stated in the standing rules.
2. Applications
- All applications must be filled out completely and accurately. Information must be exact, for example, opus numbers, keys, etc. The teacher is responsible for checking that all repertoire adheres to proper requirements of each program. Inaccuracies or unreadable items will result in the application being rejected. Chair will notify the teacher and return both the application and fees immediately.
- Applications will be received on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to limited space and timing of programs, there is a limit of students per teacher. Priority is given to applications that are properly completed (see paragraph above) and received by the deadline.
- COR: 4 student limit
- Recitals: 5 student limit
- Festivals and AAR: 8 student limit
3. Fees (revised August 2024)
