Code of Ethics
We, the members of the Music Teachersʼ Association of California, Diamond Bar Branch, having dedicated ourselves to the advancement of the standards in music education shall:
❖ Maintain the highest moral standards and conduct towards colleagues, students, and community
❖ Participate in the activities of the Branch
❖ Respect the dignity and work of our colleagues
❖ Develop and maintain a professional relationship between teachers and students
❖ Encourage, guide and develop students towards fulfillment of their musical potential
❖ Participate in and encourage students to be involved in community music activities

Our Code
Therefore, be it resolved that it shall be unethical for a teacher or an institution :
❖ To willfully or clandestinely contact, purloin, or entice students from other teachers or classes
❖ To present any students as his/her own until after enrollment of six (6) months unless by the written
consent of the former teacher
❖ To accept a pupil if aware of an unresolved indebtedness to another teacher
❖ To disparage the work of a colleague
❖ To present false or untruthful information regarding themselves or their students
❖ To willfully or clandestinely contact, purloin, or entice students from other teachers or classes
❖ To present any students as his/her own until after enrollment of six (6) months unless by the written
consent of the former teacher
❖ To accept a pupil if aware of an unresolved indebtedness to another teacher
❖ To disparage the work of a colleague
❖ To present false or untruthful information regarding themselves or their students
